Sanusi Kiri, Federal Road Safety Corps Commander (FRSC), said on Thursday that it has recorded 3 deaths and arrest of 200 offenders in April.
Kiri, disclosed this in an interview with our Correspondent in Maiduguri.
Kiri said that the deaths in the state was as a result of the insurgency and over speeding along Jakana and Auno village the main penetration zone of Boko Haram.
He also said that 200 road offenders have been arrested, 3 killed in a terrible road crash, according to him the accident was as a result of overloading, over speeding, tyre burst and mechanical deficiency.
He further said that the drivers were not obeying the traffic lights in town, noting that if they were observing the protocol the accident would have reduced within the state.
Kiri also said that it has recorded less RTC and higher fatality since April, 2020.
He revealed that the state had recorded many road traffic crashes within the same period, adding that of the figure collated, 3 were fatal, 25 injuring and 12 vehicles involved in road crash
“The sector command recorded 3 deaths, with many people sustaining various degrees of injury in the state.
“The operation was in collaboration with other security operatives who participated on the spot checking of motor vehicles particulars, Unregistered number plates, fake number plates and misuse of number plates” he added.
Sanusi noted that the behaviour of road users was an important determinant of a country’s road safety performance.
He urged motorists to be careful, tolerant and imbibe defensive driving culture records.
