Ondo state Commissioner for Lands and Infrastructure, Engineer Raimi Aminu has described political parties as integral and indispensable elements in democratic governance, hence the need for politicians to be sensitive to their parties.
Aminu stated this on Wednesday while playing host to members of the Caretaker Committee of the APC in Owo local government area in his office.
According to him, all elected and appointee politicians are by-products of political parties.
He said “Politicians in office, either appointed or elected, owe their positions to their political parties. The parties are the ones, that choose their representatives in every given election. Any success recorded by any politician in office should be credited to his political party, which produced him in the first place.”
Raimi promised to work hand in gloves with other office holders in the local government to make the party stronger by embracing all members and make them have a sense of belonging.
The Commissioner added that the leaders needed to focus more on regular party meetings so that they would be abreast of the challenges facing other party members and fashion out ways of attending to them.
Earlier, leader of the delegation and Caretaker Chairman of the party, Chief Sidney Ogunleye had said they were on the visit to felicitate with Engineer Aminu on his appointment and rejoice over the success recorded at the election tribunal yesterday.
He explained that the committee had remained strong in supporting Governor Akeredolu for over six years, adding that their commitment had ensured that the party had no crises in Owo local government area since then.
Others, who spoke at the event were Mr. Eniola Ajipe, Mr. Adebayo One, Mrs Abel Balogun and Fatai Lawal. They thanked God for using Arakunrin Akeredolu to choose Engineer Aminu as a Commissioner, stressing that he was a committed and steadfast supporter of the Governor.
The event became colourful and was almost turned to a carnival as the people sang and danced to different songs in Owo dialect as well as christian and Muslim faiths to praise the lord for the life of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu and Engineer Aminu.
