EndSARS: Police reportedly arrest journalist, others as protesters storm Lekki Tollgate

Police arrests EndSARS protesters in Lagos

During the EndSARS memorial rally in Lekki Tollgate, Lagos State, when some Nigerian youths were allegedly gunned down on October 20, 2020, a reporter from Legit TV named Abimbola was reportedly arrested by police operatives.

Despite the Lagos State Police Command’s cautions against the memorial demonstration, several activists, including Omoyele Sowore and others, attacked the spot on Wednesday morning, according to Metro Times.

The journalist was apprehended after he failed to produce his identification card, according to reports. DAILY POST spotted Abimbola being pulled by police operatives in a live video on Facebook.

DAILY POST’s attempts to contact the State’s Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu, for comment on the event were unsuccessful as of press time since he was unable to answer his phone.

However, earlier today, the State’s Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, stated that the command would use all legal means to disrupt or neutralize the planned protests to commemorate the #EndSARS anniversary.
