BREAKING: Lt Col Ponfa Wuyep wins SAEMA Military Officer of the Year Award

An infantry officer and current Commander 146 Battalion of the Nigerian Army, Lt Col Ponfa Andrew Wuyep, has won this year’s SAEMA Military Officer of the year award.


The officer along with over 20 other winners in different categories of the 2021 Security and Emergency Management Award (SAEMA) were announced at the Award ceremony held on Saturday at the Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja.

Before his current position, Lt Col Wuyep commanded the 195 Battalion which has the responsibility of defending Maiduguri, the Borno State capital in the campaign against blood thirsty Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists. He distinguished himself in gallantry and community relations.

Wuyep was also the proud recipient of the coveted Chief of Army Staff Commendation Award, an honour reserved only for the few who distinguished themselves in both character and accomplishment in the service to the Nigerian Army and the nation.
