Police raid bandit hideout and save nine people

On New Year’s Eve, police in Kaduna State said they assaulted a known bandits’ camp belonging to one Isiya in the forest of Sabon Birni village in the state’s Igabi LGA and rescued nine captives in coordination with a tactical unit from Force Headquarters, Abuja, and some local vigilante members.


According to the statement, the operation was launched in response to intelligence inputs that some victims were being held captive in the forest for ransom.

According to ASP Muhammed Jalige, a police spokesman, the mission was successful, with one bandit killed and numerous others escaping with varied degrees of bullet wounds.

Rabe Baushe and Badamasi Usman, two suspects, were apprehended and put into custody for further investigation.

The nine victims rescued in the operation are; Bashir Hussain, Abdullahi Adamu, Lawal Habib, Umar Yahuza, Joseph Samuel, Nazifi Sani, Mohammed Shuaibu, Zainab Bashir, and Alheri Ibrahim, all of different addresses within the state.

Eight of the have since been reunited with their families after undergoing medical checks at the police medical facility and were profiled.
