Abdulrasak and his three sons, Waliu Abdulrasak, 23, Ilias Abdulrasak, 18, and Abdulhammed Abdulrasak, all of Alubarika, Saki, Oyo State, were charged with conspiracy, kidnapping, and murder.

Mr S. H. Adebisi, the Chief Magistrate, ordered their remand at Abolongo Correctional Facility in Oyo, pending legal advice from the Oyo State Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP).

Adebisi, who did not accept the defendants’ pleas, delayed the case to April 25 for further consideration.

The prosecutor, Insp Gbemisola Adedeji, had previously informed the court that the four defendants conspired to kidnap a victim who resided in the same neighborhood as them.

“The defendants reportedly abducted one Abdulraheem Bamimore, aged eight, by taking him out of his parents’ custody without their knowledge,” Adedeji added.

“On March 3, at 12: 00 p.m., when Abdulraheem Bamimore’m’ and Abdullahi Bamimore’m’, twin children, returned from school.

“After being persuaded to an undisclosed location by the suspects, one of them, Abdulraheem Bamimore, left the residence.

“By tying Abdulraheem Bamimore with rope, the defendants unlawfully caused his death.”

The offence, she added, violated Section 3 of the Oyo State Kidnapping Prohibition Law 2016 and was penalized under Sections 4 (1) and 6.

The offenses, according to Adedeji, were also in violation of Section 316 of the Criminal Code of Oyo State 2000, and were punishable under Sections 319 and 324.
